3D Spatial/Experiential Designer

MKG West is looking for a 3D/2D experiential designer with a focus on art direction and environmental spaces. This multi-talented designer reports into the Head of Design and will lead projects for high-profile clients, be a part of a larger design team on multi-prong, larger programs, manage multiple projects/tasks at once and design interns as needed, and be a collaborative and strong voice for the design team at MKG West.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

IDEATION: Develop concepts through inspirational mood boards, napkin sketching, mock-ups and collaborative brainstorming (internally and externally). Work with the Creative team on concept development for programmed elements in the space, often working from a winning proposal deck.

3D DESIGNAttend site visits with clients and conduct site surveys to create scaled floor plans with programmed design and experiential elements. Model in 3D space for a final outcome of environmental renderings complete with texture, lighting and experiential elements. Understand material and fabrication processes to create build mechanicals & material spec’ing for custom scenic and environmental designs, integrating tech, lighting and more. Source and style furniture and props to add to the brand story.

2D DESIGN: Utilize Adobe CC to create or work alongside a graphic designer to create graphics of all scales - from large-scale environmental branding to the digital invitation or social post. Follow through with print file prep and production, as well as approving proofs and communicating with specialty vendors.

PROJECT MANAGEMENT: Manage internal spreadsheets, external vendors, design budgeting and project timeline for midsize projects to keep on track and hit important agency and client deadlines. Work alongside project designers, whether full-time or contract and often under an Associate Senior or Senior Designer on large-scale projects. Work alongside and collaborate with contract project workers, such as lighting designers, graphic animators, technical directors, and more.

Candidates must have 3+ years of experience working directly with clients and internal teams to deliver on projects from client brief through to execution. Experience working in experiential marketing and/or B2B events is required. 

The Account Executive will report directly to the Account Director and will provide daily support for all activations.  They will be responsible for coordinating event attendee tracking/reporting, presentation and materials support for Account Managers, and creation of pre and post-event evaluations. The Account Executives will support the Account Managers to produce activations of small and medium-size. They will be skilled at looking at the whole picture and taking the initiative for that next step.

Account Manager

We are searching for a smart, creative and ambitious Account Manager/ Producer hybrid to help manage one of the agency’s top clients out of our NYC office.  Strong experience in account management, client relations, event production, project management, and experiential marketing are required. The candidate must be organized, self-motivated, flexible, and able to solve problems head-on and creatively.  

The Account Manager will report directly to the Account Director. They will act as a key business lead for all programs assigned to them by the Account Director. They will manage internal team resources to ensure projects are progressing according to schedule and that deliverables are being met.  They will produce small to medium sized activations, without additional production resources.

MKG West, the Los Angeles office of MKG is searching for an experienced, relationship & results driven individual to lead our production team. The Director of Production is responsible for guiding and mentoring a team of talented producers to execute all brand experiences and multi-faceted activations for our clients. 

Reporting into the President of MKG West, the ideal candidate is a creative problem solver with the ability to actively manage competing priorities while always remaining composed under pressure. You’re a team player with exceptional communication skills & great flexibility. This rockstar must be a strong leader - decisive and comfortable managing multiple tasks and delegating while working within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, direction and guidance to the production team, always with a focus on top-notch client service.
  • Inspire and lead the production team to manage and execute creative, results-driven experiential marketing programs that meet client objectives and deliver against campaign metrics.
  • Work closely with MKGW President, Director of Finance and Director of Business Development to ensure quarterly revenue goals and individual project profitability goals are being met.
  • Collaborate with business development team and seasoned MKGW producers to provide proposal budgets and ensure overall production feasibility during the RFP process. Attend in person pitch and capabilities presentations as needed.
  • Lead intake of potential projects that skip Business Development and go straight to production
  • Assess projects to determine resource requirements, ensuring we are always operating with maximum profitability
  • Assign teams (full time and freelance) to new projects, attending internal & external kick offs and client calls/meeting as individual project needs require. Ensure project summaries are delivered to clients and projects are closed out/reconciled in real time.
  • As a member of MKGs leadership team, you will work closely with other senior leaders across departments and offices to ensure synergy, collaboration and communication.
  • Liaise with President to develop strategic departmental plans that promote profitable growth and efficient operations of the company.

The Resource Manager is focused on supporting the fabrication and installation processes, through effectively managing the availability and scheduling of a large pool of skilled staff. Critical to the role is the ability to decipher and organize information coming from multiple sources in order to meet current needs and anticipate future demands. Gaining an understanding of each team member’s skill-set will be necessary to allocate the most qualified person for the successful completion of each project. 


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Plan resources to maximize profitability across multiple projects, managing overtime and employee fatigue
  • Lead recruiting, hiring, and onboarding for all hourly positions
  • Work with department  heads to allocate resources based on skills, expertise, and project demand
  • Manage schedule and availability for 75+ employees
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of skilled labor to meet constantly changing demands, ensuring the company always has the right people available to meet project deadlines and competing priorities, including overhire and national lists
  • Reconcile scheduled vs worked hours, while managing timesheet corrections and approvals
  • Generate reports to increase transparency and accountability around budgeting and resource usage
  • Work with management to develop and implement policies in relation to timekeeping and scheduling

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience in scheduling and/or recruiting in a similar or related field
  • Must be highly organized and able to develop and implement new systems and processes
  • Proficient in Google Sheets/Excel, able to write or manipulate formulas
  • Experience with TSheets or other time tracking software a plus
  • Must be able to provide written reports and feedback
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to constant change
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Scenic Department Manager

Reporting to the Director of Fabrication, the Scenic Department Manager will maintain oversight of a team of Lead Painters and Scenics as well as manage the physical space of the Painting Department and Spray booth.  Duties include the production and standardization of scenic samples, direction of Paint and Faux treatments, establishment of Material Standards and implementation of Best Practices. Oversight of purchasing for paint products and best utilizing resources in order to meet the established quality standards and timelines of all Projects.  The Scenic Department Manager will set the standard in Department stewardship and quality assurance while managing the team and resources to maintain a productive, Clean & Safe work space.  

 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Manage and coordinate all active paint projects
  • Directly supervise, lead, train and develop employees within department
  • Constantly seek ways to improve efficiency, quality and cost control
  • Assign work duties to maintain schedules
  • Oversee the preventative maintenance of all operating equipment in department
  • Daily space planning and coordination with Director of  Fabrication 
  • Manage expenditures within department budget
  • Develop and manage inventory control procedures
  • Ensure production, quality, and time requirements are met to satisfy the client  in a cost effective manner
  • Maintain discipline to procedures, in accordance with safety, quality, engineering, human resources, and finance department guidelines
  • Oversee all applicable department rules and regulations

ADDITIONAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Order material and equipment when needed
  • Liaison with production team on job schedule and requirements
  • Reconcile expenses in accordance with finance department guidelines
  • Perform in-process inspection of all work coming out of the paint department
  • Monitor volume of production, record material usage and requirements
  • Oversight of department consumables inventory planning and purchasing
  • Support company culture initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • 5+ Years of Scenic Painting experience in Theatre, Film or Experiential Industry. 
  • Minimum 3 years of management experience or leading a team
  • Able to train and coach staff on a regular basis
  • Must be able to provide written reports and feedback 
  • Must be organized, detail oriented and team driven
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to constant change
  • OSHA 10 Certification a plus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
